TRUHLÁŘSKÁ APARTMENT BUILDING
PLZEŇ / ZÁBRAN, ŠLAJSOVÁ / 2023
On the banks of the Mže River, within the heritage zone of the original northern suburb of medieval Plzeň, we have designed a new apartment building.
Located on Truhlářská Street, in close proximity to the historic Saxon Bridge, the building reflects the specifics of this locality—it respects the history of the place while introducing contemporary architectural elements that cater to the needs of modern living.
The main characteristic feature of the building is its regular façade. The precise alternation of windows and loggias creates a harmonious rhythm that extends not only to the southern side overlooking the city but also towards the river. This grid imparts a distinctive palatial character to the building, whose monumentality is further emphasized by the greater height of the top floor.
The prominent corner, resulting from the building's placement at the corner of a planned cohesive development, is accentuated by a green roof. The intensive rooftop garden was designed with aesthetics in mind, as well as with respect to ecology and sustainability. To ensure the prosperity of the trees, specific locations on the roof were selected where the height of the top floor allowed for the creation of sufficiently deep soil substrate. The garden also includes an outdoor pool, which combines relaxation with a connection to the surrounding environment.
The building combines historical contexts with modern approaches. Minimalist details and precise execution ensure harmonious integration into the surrounding environment, while functional elements and spacious loggias meet the demands of comfortable urban living.
